Capacity Enhancement Training Program for Indonesian engineers held in Jakarta

From November 13 to 15, the Capacity Enhancement Training Program for Engineers was successfully held in Jakarta, Indonesia. Hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE) and organized by the School of Continuing Education and the Southeast Asia Center of Tsinghua University, the event was co-organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia, with support from Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII) and PT HUAWEI Tech Investment.

The program aimed to implement the Memorandum of Understanding to Promote Cooperation on Engineers' Capacity Building, signed between the CSE and PII. 

Distinguished guests included Wang Xiaoxiao, chair of the Continuing Professional Development Committee of the Chinese Society of Engineers, director of Tsinghua Southeast Asia Center and dean of Tsinghua University's School of Continuing Education; Cao Xiaowei, vice chairman of the Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce; Habibie Razak, executive director of PII; and Kian Chen, vice president of PT HUAWEI Tech Investment. Nearly 30 senior engineers from China and Indonesia participated in the training program.

Wang Xiaoxiao emphasized that engineers play a crucial role in driving societal progress. This training aimed to enhance engineering skills and foster collaboration between China and Indonesia. Wang highlighted CSE's initiatives to increase the professional level of engineers, particularly through its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) service system. Notably, its "Shared Courses" module offers bilingual online courses in Chinese and English, sharing China's engineering expertise with global engineers.

Cao Xiaowei noted that the program serves as an essential platform for engineering cooperation between China and Indonesia. It enhances both technical and cross-cultural collaboration skills, providing momentum for economic cooperation between the two countries.

Habibie Razak praised the program for addressing complex technical and management challenges faced by engineers. He commended the CSE-PII partnership for offering practical solutions and expressed his hope that engineers would explore new technologies, enhance their innovation capabilities and establish long-term collaborative exchanges with the CSE.

Kian Chen reaffirmed Huawei's commitment to merging technological advancements with talent development. He highlighted the importance of continuous learning and collaborative in the fast-evolving global engineering landscape, noting Huawei's ongoing support for digital talent programs in Indonesia.

The training covered topics such as AI technology, engineering project management and innovative thinking and leadership. Participants visited leading enterprises in Indonesia, engaged in discussions and completed case studies, bridging theory with practical skills. This event fostered exchange and cooperation, advancing engineering capacity-building efforts and supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Looking ahead, the CSE plans to hold a second session in December.
