The second session of the Capacity Enhancement Training Program for Engineers in Indonesia was held in Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) from December 17 to 20. The event was hosted by the Chinese Society of Engineers (CSE), organized by the School of Continuing Education and the Southeast Asia Center of Tsinghua University, and co-organized by the China Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia and IMIP, with support from the Persatuan Insinyur Indonesia (PII). Chinese and Indonesian engineers and technicians assigned by more than 20 companies in the park participated in the training program.

Experts and professors from renowned Chinese universities like Tsinghua University and University of Science and Technology Beijing lectured on intelligent production and management, low-carbon steel process, steel material science, application technology and other advanced topics. Considering the majors and practical work of trainees, they emphasized the combination of practice and theory. A variety of teaching activities, including classroom learning, exchange and discussion, and benchmark plant visits, drive trainees to seek innovative engineering solutions in practice.

The program embodies the specific implementation of the memorandum of understanding signed between CSE and PII, and is a crucial move of cooperation on engineering capacity building between China and Indonesia. Its success has strengthened the exchange and cooperation among engineers from the two countries under the cross-cultural background, promoted their mutual learning in engineering technology and talent cultivation, and built a bridge for skill improvement and cultural exchanges among them. It also further fosters collaboration between China and Indonesia in the field of engineering technology and promotes the sustainable development of engineers’ capacity building.

CSE trained more than 80 Chinese and Indonesian engineers in Indonesia in 2024, continuously contributing to the capacity enhancement of engineers.
